So, i haven't been able to fic for a while. I'm not sure why not, only that my Muse went on holiday and then when she came back i had no damn time, and then by the time i did, she had gone again. The Hunger Games

So i read the first book in The Hunger Games series in an impossibly quick time yesterday. I couldn't put it down! So i had to go and see the movie today. Also awesome. They changed a few small things but i thought it was a faithful adaptation. My brother and his fiance loved it as well, though they haven't read the book.

I loved this Arcade Fire song during the end credits, hadn't heard it before.

OMG FLORENCE!

So, last week i got an £85 income tax refund, which was a very very nice surprise when i came home it.

But then...but then... just now i went on the Ticketmaster website to have a look at Florence and the Machine's date in Manchester. I tried to get tickets when they were released a few months back, but they pretty much sold out instantly.

BUT THERE HAS BEEN A LATE RELEASE OF TICKETS, AND I HAVE MANAGED TO GET 2!!!

THIS MAKES ME UNBELIEVABLY HAPPY!

I only joined Livejournal and Dreamwidth this year, so that's been a new thing for me in 2011. There's so many lovely people in the River/Doctor fan comms and so much talent, it's really amazing. I've met some wonderful people, read amazing fics, learned interesting things, and...well, yeah...just wanted to say that. :)

meta: The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe analysis

I adored this episode so much. It really took some of the key symbols and themes from series 5/6 and went all out with them. Under the cut is a long analysis of the ep, which i just had to do because it blew me away. Cross posted to Gallifreybase with adjustments.

The main thing i've looked at is the Doctor's role as Trickster God, The World Tree mythic concept, Polarity and Unification and the idea of Ascension.
